Newly updated for the latest smart pumps, Pumping Insulin remains the definitive work for getting the most out of insulin pump therapy. The Fourth Edition will help you get the most from the latest "smart" pumps by teaching you how to use various kinds of boluses, check insulin on board to prevent over corrections, how to determine corrections and insulin sensitivity factors, and how to ensure that your basal rates are correctly set. There's even a discussion of how to use Symlin and Byetta if you pump. If you use an insulin pump and want to get the most from it, you need this book. Highly recommended for anyone considering or using an insulin pump.

From the Diabetes Dictionary
Endogenous Antibodies
In Type 1 diabetes, several different autoantibodies against normal tissues are found. These antibodies are associated with the destruction of the beta cells of the pancreas, although their exact role is uncertain. Some of the autoantibodies which are found in diabetes patients include islet-cell antibodies (ICA's), anti-insulin antibodies (AIA's) and anti-GAD antibodies.

Diabetes Humor
The other day my mom texted me this" "2 100's today". She watches my son Cole while I attend college full time. I texted back, "good, I changed his basal the other day". She texted back, "No, I was talking about his school work -- two 100% on his school work." We both laughed really hard -- this would only happen if you had a child with diabetes.

Hi! My name is Gabriel, I have 8 years old, and I have diabetes since 1 year and 2 months. I love to play with my friend from school Daniel. I am from Brazil, and we just moved from Miami to Mexico.
I don't like to have diabetes, but I know that I need to take care of myself. I am using the insulin pump. I also love to play soccer, tennis and to swim.
I can measure my blood glucose by myself. My Mom and Dad are super! They help me very much. At school I can take care of myself.
